As Jillian begins her first year in eighth grade at Lawton Chiles, a new elective awaits her—Journalism. Since this is her first experience in the subject, she will take on the role of a “floater,” giving her the opportunity to learn and develop new skills across different areas of the newsroom. Over the years, Jillian has built an impressive range of abilities through her involvement in Betta Club, Honor Society, theater, and choir. With such a strong background, journalism is a challenge she’s well-prepared to tackle. The school’s news format, focused on achievements and sports, which is a great platform for her to grow. Jillian’s guiding theme for the year is: “With teamwork, anything is possible.”
