Mallory Denis is an incoming senior at Oviedo High School in northeast Orlando Florida and has a deep passion for writing. Which she discovered through taking journalism one in her freshman year then fast forward three years and she’s going into being the co-editor in chief for her schools newspaper senior year. Shes involved in a variety of extracurriculars including D&D club, environmental club, and a plethora of honors societies. Mallory finds fufillment in volunteering for her community and is an active runner and cycler or atleast she tries to but the florida heat is no joke. She also relaxes watching movies some of her favorites include “Scream,” “There will be blood,” “Whiplash,” “Tick Tick Boom,” and “Home Alone”. She follows directors such as Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino but promises shes not pretentious about films though she enjoys leaving reviews on sites like letterboxd, and substack. Mallory sees herself working in the entertainment industry in her future, possibly as an entertainment journalist, or maybe even an actress with plans to move forward with acting in college. “I think once I go to college, I might audition for the school musical’s or join basic intro class”.
Callie Sini is a rising junior at Oviedo High School. She has worked on the newspaper staff for three years and will begin her first year on the yearbook staff in the fall. In addition to the journalism program at Oviedo, Sini is also involved in Model UN, Environmental Club, and Debate Club, where she produces social media to cover events. Sini’s passion for journalism traces back to her early years, where she enjoyed spending time watching the news with her grandparents. Her spark remains lit today, as she expressed “there’s very rarely a time where journalism has been more important than now. Journalism helps people, that’s what’s really important,”.
