About the Contributors
Carla Chavec is an upcoming junior at Oviedo High School, she is very passionate about creative writing and her school’s newspaper. In seventh grade, she co-founded a newspaper club at her middle school that will continue to be used as an outlet for aspiring journalists. Chavec started doing newspapers because she finds that creative writing gives her a deeper understanding of the world and the words that can be used to tell a meaningful story, “I want to see how far I can go- to research and be curious about the world, rather than just stay in my own imagination.” Chavec said.
Gigi Decesare, Oviedo High School
Gigi Decesare is going into her senior year at Oviedo high school. This is her third year on staff for journalism, last year she was an editor and chief of online publication and this year she is going to be an editor and chief of her school’s whole staff. Her favorite part about journalism is when you start to and you think you’re going to write about one thing, and then you actually interview someone and you find out something cool about them and it kinda shifts your article. Since Gigi always knew she wanted to write, she thought that journalism was the most practical decision for what she wanted to do.
