What’s that waving in the distance? That’s the spirit flag, of course!
Boone High School takes it home and wins the spirit flag competition. They won the first-day spirit flag competition at Camp Orlando on July 19 due to their school spirit and their shirt-making abilities in the shirt design contest.
Students and teachers get to show their spirit in the flag competition, and the high school with the most spirit gets to hold the spirit flag for the whole day.
The spirit flag competition would be held on Monday, July 20, and would feature designs created by the high schools attending Camp Orlando. Of those schools, Boone and their flag spirit would finish in first place and win the competition.
“Ava brings it. She has the face. She has the energy. And also, as soon as Tracy said they know the drill,” Cora Haas said. “We were practicing for 20 minutes straight. I told her, ‘You really have to emphasize the tutu.”
When working on the shirt design contest, Boone students had to quickly piece together what they wanted to do. For the shirt, they decided to put a big ‘BP’ on the back and a handprint on the front of the shirt with the totem pole from their school just to symbolize their spirit.
“We just all poured our ideas in there and started doodling on our flag as a piece of everyone in our school. I feel like our flag stood out not just because of our flag, but the people that were behind it.” Hailey Garcia said.
